DAVE CHESSON EARNS COVETED AMERICAN ADVERTISING FEDERATION’S
SILVER MEDAL AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Greenville Ad Club, a local chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF), presented Dave Chesson, former Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of the bounce agency, with the Silver Medal Award for his thirty years of commitment to the Upstate advertising community.
The American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize efforts to further the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.
Recipients are nominated by their peers and selected by a panel of judges from the Greenville Ad Club. The award presentation took place on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Embassy Suites (670 Verdae Blvd in Greenville) from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Chesson began his career as an advertising account executive in 1977 at the bounce agency (formerly The Leslie Agency) and managed the company’s flagship accounts – Sears Department Store and Southern Bank. As his retail industry knowledge grew, so did his roster of clients including regional chains of Wendy’s and Mrs. Winner’s restaurants, 7Eleven convenience stores, Mieneke Muffler shops and BI-LO Supermarkets.
In 1980, Chesson was the primary catalyst behind the establishment of a formal public relations division within the company (Leslie-Cooley), was named Chief Operating Officer in the mid-80’s and promoted to Vice Chairman, Chief Financial Officer in 2005.
As a resident of Mauldin, Chesson has been a tremendous contributor to the local Mauldin and Greenville communities, most recently as the brainchild and founder of the Mauldin Cultural Center, which is undergoing an $8 million fundraising drive. Chesson is also committed to and active in his family’s church, Mauldin First Baptist, currently serving as a church greeter and having served as chairman of the church’s 100th Anniversary Committee.
Chesson and wife, Anne, have been extremely involved in education initiatives across the Upstate, currently serving on the Anderson University Advisory Council and having served on the communications counsel of the Greenville County School District; a past PTA Co-President of Mauldin High School and former board member of the Mauldin High Foundation.
Chesson is a former board member of The Greenville Ad Club, the Better Business Bureau’s Local Area Review Board, the St. Francis Foundation, Vision 2025 and the Salvation Army.
The Greenville Ad Club is an affiliate of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and is comprised of nearly 100 members who work in advertising, marketing, public relations and other related industries throughout Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson and Asheville, North Carolina. Founded in 1953, The Greenville Ad Club encourages professional development through seminars, award presentations, networking and industry leader recognition.
