The Greenville Ad Club Announces 2006 ADDY ® Award Winners
--Brains on Fire and Henderson Advertising Earn Five of Six Top Honors--
GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 4, 2006) – The Greenville Ad Club (GAC), a local chapter of the American Advertising Federation, announces winners of the 2006 ADDY ® Awards, the industry’s most prestigious recognition for creative achievement.
Brains on Fire earned the coveted Best of Show award for the “St. Francis Campaign” developed on behalf of Bon Secours St. Francis Health System as well as the Special Judges Award (interactive) for the “Brains on Fire Blog.” IMI Resort Marketing received the Best of Show Print award for the “Tesoro Nature Brochure” produced for Ginn Clubs and Resorts.
Henderson Advertising earned the Special Judges Award for the “Under Water Campaign” created for the American Red Cross. Henderson continued to reel in the Mosaic ADDY Award for the “Salt TV” campaign developed for the Center for Diversity Education while Henderson ’s Stephen Childress earned the Copywriter of the Year award.
Erwin-Penland Advertising earned the greatest number of Gold (23) and Silver (38) ADDY Awards followed by Henderson Advertising’s 26 ADDY’s, 13 Gold and 13 Silver respectively. Brains on Fire roped in 11 Gold and Six Silver ADDY’s while IMI Resort Marketing brought in Seven Gold and Eight Silver ADDY’s.
Fuel took home Six Silver ADDY’s and Alpha Group earned Four Silver ADDY’s. Design 1 secured One Gold and Two Silver ADDY’s and the bounce agency received One Gold and One Sliver ADDY. Spots, Inc. and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital System earned One Gold ADDY Award while Jackson-Dawson Communications, Crosby Stills, Gotham Images, Multimedia Construction and WC&T all earned One Silver ADDY.
Over 600 pieces were entered in 78 categories in this year’s local Greenville Ad Club ADDY competition and judged by a selection of advertising industry professionals from around the United States . Judges included Tim Sabo from GSD&M in Austin , Texas ; Laura Powers from Lewis Communications in Nashville , Tennessee ; and Tim Hamill from Bernstein-Rein in Kansas City , Missouri .
Recognized as the advertising industry’s equivalent to the Academy Awards, the three-tier ADDY competition recognizes achievement on a local, district and national level. Gold-winning will advance to the Third District judging competition to be held in Greenville on March 24 & 25, 2006. District level Gold winners will advance to national competition and be honored at the AAF National Conference in San Francisco on June 11, 2006 .
The Greenville Ad Club is an affiliate of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and is comprised of nearly 100 members who work in advertising, marketing, public relations and other related industries throughout Greenville , Spartanburg , Anderson and Asheville , North Carolina .
