Erwin-Penland Hits Grand Slam with Greenville Drive Advertising Campaign
Agency Earns Four Best of Show and Two Judges Choice Awards at the 2007 ADDY Awards Presented By Corbis and The Greenville Ad Club
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Ad Club (GAC), a local chapter of the American Advertising Federation, announces the results from the 2007 ADDY® Awards presented by Corbis, the industry’s most prestigious recognition for creative achievement.
Erwin-Penland stole home with the Best of Show Award and Best of Show Print Award for "Baseball Rant," Best of Show Broadcast Award for the "Doctor/Translator Campaign" and the Judges Choice Award for "Half Season Tickets," all developed on behalf of The Greenville Drive, the Upstate’s new division 1A baseball team.
In addition, Erwin-Penland earned the Best of Show Interactive Award for the "Pazdan-Smith Website" for client Pazdan-Smith Group Architects, and a Judges Choice Award for "Diner Waitress and Shoe Salesman TV" for client Advance America. The agency won a total of 71 ADDY awards (29 Gold and 42 Silver), the most for any one agency in the competition.
Joshua Rigsby of Anderson University won the Best of Show Student Award for "Stomp," a poster promoting an event at The Peace Center for Performing Arts, as well as four Gold and nine Silver ADDY awards. Andrea Herbster of Bob Jones University earned one Gold ADDY for the "Indiana Toll Road logo" entry, marking 2007 as The Greenville Ad Club’s first Student ADDY Competition in the club’s 54-year history.
IMI Resort Marketing earned the Best of Resort Marketing Award for the "Viceroy Riviera Maya Sales Kit" developed for the Kor Hotel Group. The company was the second-winningest competitor with seven Gold and 13 Silver ADDY Awards.
The bounce agency earned the Mosaic ADDY Award for the "MLK Poster" entry, a piece commemorating the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday as well a Judges Choice Award for "Palmetto Bluff Photography" and client Palmetto Bluff. The bounce agency earned a total of nine ADDY awards (three Gold and six Silver).
Trone, a newcomer to the competition and a newly formed agency in Greenville, earned the Judges Choice Award for the "Frames Campaign" designed for artisphere. The team also earned five Gold and three Silver ADDY awards. Brains on Fire, last year’s Best of Show award winner, earned five Gold and six Silver ADDY awards this year.
Fuel earned two Gold and one Silver while both Valdes Creative and Jackson-Dawson Communications took home one Silver and one Gold ADDY. Woodward & Zwolinski Advertising and The Greenville Ad Club each earned one Gold ADDY Award. Design One and Williamson Evans Words, Music & Moving Pictures earned two Silver ADDYs. The Alpha Group and Torque Creative both earned one Silver ADDY respectively.
A total of 580 pieces (49 were student ADDY submissions) were entered in 122 categories in this year’s local Greenville Ad Club ADDY competition and judged by a selection of advertising industry professionals from around the United States. Judges included Laura Black from Cincinnati, Ohio; Bonn Banwell from Minneapolis, MN; Mike Hayward from Seattle, WA and Martin Buchanan from Greensboro, NC.
Recognized as the advertising industry’s equivalent to the Academy Awards, the three-tier ADDY competition recognizes achievement on a local, district and national level. Gold-winning awards will advance to the Third District judging competition to be held in Roanoke, VA on March 24. District level Gold winners will advance to the national competition and be honored at the AAF National Conference in Louisville on June 9, 2007.
The Greenville Ad Club is an affiliate of the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and is comprised of 75 members who work in advertising, marketing, public relations and other related industries throughout Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson and Asheville, North Carolina. Founded in 1953, The Greenville Ad Club encourages professional development through seminars, award presentations, networking and industry leader recognition.
